Kathy Robb, AFAA Certified Personal Trainer

Kathy Holmes Robb won a gym membership in college and hasn’t stopped working out since! After graduating from Penn State with a BS in Finance and working for 15-years in the financial community, she decided to move away from corporate America and got her Personal Training Certification thru the Aerobics & Fitness Association of America (AFAA). She currently does In-Home Personal Training where she brings all the necessary equipment to your home, is a Trainer at the Westfield Area Y, and has worked as a Trainer at the Health Club in the Sheraton NY Hotel & Towers, but she loves working out in the great outdoors the most! An avid runner, Kathy has coached an adult running class, has successfully completed two NYC marathons as well as two Sprint Triathlons, and has served as a Mentor for the Danskin SheRox Triathlon for the NY Metro Area. Kathy is a TRX Trainer and has also received credits for Nutrition Fundamentals and Youth Fitness. A graduate of the Somerset School of Massage Therapy, she completed a 600-hour certification program in therapeutic massage, sports massage, anatomy and physiology. She currently does massage therapy in the comfort and privacy of your own home. In addition to doing In-Home massages, Kathy does chair massage in offices and for special events.

 

Mari Melao, NETA Certified Group Exercise Instructor
Mari has always been a very active and athletic person. A high school athlete, and an avid and loyal group exercise participant through college and her early professional years, she made a decision to get her Group Exercise Certification and her teaching journey began. Her training style is always positive, encouraging, empowering, enthusiastic and high energy. There are so many amazing things that Mari loves about Group Exercise. Her two favorites are:   The camaraderie that participants develop when they work out together. Its ability to reduce stress and create positive energy. Mari is a 3-time triathlete and has successfully completed many road races. When Mari isn’t teaching fitness classes, she thoroughly enjoys working with her students at Holy Trinity Interparochial School where she teaches the PK-2.5 year old class and Creative Movement.

 

Tovah Segelman, AFAA Certified Group Exercise Instructor
“You never work out and regret it. You never go for a run and when you are done say, “I wish I would have just stayed home.” You never climb a mountain, get to the top and say, “I should have just been content to stay where I was.” -NIKE Tovah has been training, working out, and attending group fitness classes for many years, and has completed numerous 5K’s, 2 half marathons, 3 sprint triathlons, an Olympic distance tri and 2 half Ironmans, and is currently training for a FULL Ironman! Training herself for all these events lead her to get certified in Group Exercise Instruction through AFAA. She also has certifications in BTS Group Power, BTS Group Core, Group TRX and Spinning.Tovah is also the Athletic Director of the We Dream Athletic Team, a group of athletes that participate in races to raise funds for the non-profit organization Autism Family Times,which provides educational, recreational, and social events for individuals with Autism and their families in our community. When she’s not training or competing, Tovah is a Speech-Language Pathologist and literacy specialist.

 

 

Jen Donahue, ACE Certified Personal Trainer

Jennifer Donahue has been “EXTREMELY” active all her life.  She was a competitive swimmer whose career culminated in a spot on the roster at St. Bonaventure University, a Division I Program.  Shortly after starting a family, Jen found her passion in teaching Group Exercise Programs.  She is a Certified Personal Trainer, Group Exercise Instructor and Spin Instructor.  She enjoys challenging her clients to the EXTREME in a variety of classes including Spin, Piloxing (an energetic fusion of Pilates and Kickboxing), BOSU and Kettlebell.  For Jen, group exercise is the most motivational and inspiring form of exercise, and she aspires to challenging BootCampWFers to the EXTREME combining techniques from all her areas of expertise.  Additionally, Jen has completed a multitude of triathlons and road races.

Maureen Novack, MA Exercise Physiology
Maureen Novack’s whole family is very fitness aware, but she likes to think it started with her.  She has been active all of her life from being the first girl on the local little league team in her town through playing sports in college and beyond.  She has completed dozens of triathlons and 8 full marathons.  She has been teaching group fitness classes for the last 8 years and personal training for the last 5.  Her education includes an MBA in finance and an MA in Exercise Physiology.  After using these degrees in the corporate world, she left to have children!  All throughout her pregnancies she exercised and as soon as her kids were born they went in the jogging stroller.  They don’t know anything else than parents who exercise regularly.  It is truly a way of life for her.  She especially likes to exercise outdoors with cycling and running being her favorite activities.  She hopes to bring her passion for an active and healthy lifestyle to BootCampWF and is excited at being given this opportunity.

 

 

Holly Melao, W.I.T.S. Certified Personal Trainer

At the age of 18, Holly Melao was introduced to the world of health and fitness. As a young adult, her interest in fitness was focused on maintaining her body weight, and during that time she discovered weight training, group fitness and kickboxing. As life took its course, she became the mother of 3 and quickly found herself struggling with weight gain and trying to schedule time to exercise. Then in 2008, HEALTH took on a whole different meaning. With a strong family history of breast cancer, Holly found out that she tested positive for the BRCA1 gene mutation. “I decided at that moment that I would dedicate the time and energy to be proactive in the future of MY health.” Since then she has participated in many 5ks supporting cancer awareness and also completed the Susan G Komen 3 day event. Taking it a few steps further, she received her W.I.T.S. Personal Training Certification in 2012. She is currently a part-time Physical Therapy student.

 

 

Ali Costalos, ACE Certified Personal Trainer
Ali Costalos began “working out” in high school at Women’s World in Bayside, NY in 1986 and has not stopped since! She began teaching step and “hi low” aerobics in college at the University of Scranton (remember those classes?). As an adult she began running more, completed 2 marathons and now as a mother of 3, has caught the triathlon bug. But always at the heart of it all was loving feeling proud of small physical accomplishments! It is what spurred on her love for outdoor sports such as snowboarding, hiking, tennis, you name it!In her spare time (haha) she is a nurse practitioner at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC, a member of the Home and School Association at Holy Trinity Interparochial School in Westfield, and Co- Founder of Mothers on a Mission. She believes that at the heart of everyone is someone who is stronger than they think!

 

 

Karen Phillips, Certified Holistic Health and Nutrition Coach
Karen Phillips is a Holistic Health and Nutrition Coach who works with women and men who may find themselves in a health rut. Karen takes a holistic approach to health and wellness, which means she looks at how all areas of your life are connected. Her approach is not to dwell on calories, carbs, fats, and proteins or to create lists of restrictions. It is about incorporating a wide variety of foods that benefit both overall health and longevity and give you the energy needed on a daily basis to do the things you love to do. She believes that when eating whole, natural foods, the appetite begins to match the energy expenditure. It becomes much easier to achieve weight-loss goals.
